Alistair Johnston's music combines piano, electronic and orchestral instruments. Each track can be played while watching the score scroll in sync to the music.
The music is classical in style, predominately scored for the piano. In addition to piano solos there are electronic pieces such as Deep Sea Life (in the style of Jean-Michel Jarre). Typically, piano and electronic instruments are mixed together as in the BBC television theme The Software Show.
Recent music experiments with orchestration, like Reflective, and the surprising results of combining Pachelbel's Canon in D with Waltzing Matilda.
